#TribeTalks: Meet Gillian - the fabulous (first-time) mom.

We know how it is. Life hits you and before you know it, it's got you on a mill and you can hardly spin out of it. More so when you're a new mom, juggling between your newborn and work. It's always a struggle between not wanting to miss a moment in your little one's growth, and finding time for yourself. While it's a challenge, there are always that remarkable few who commit to make it work on both fronts. We caught up with our tribe, Gillian, who used to attend regular Bouncefit classes at the studio, on how motherhood has changed her workout habits now.

Gillian and Little R

K: Hey Gillian! We know you've been in our tribe for a long time (since we started!) How did you come to know about Bouncefit at Kulture?

G: I saw some studios promoting bounce on IG in 2017, it was when the bounce culture was still sprouting . I didn’t want to immediately commit myself to a workout I was not sure I like. It just happened that Kulture was running a promo for trial sessions in 2017 and I signed up for it with my BFF! Have never looked back since!

K: That's awesome! We can tell you really love this because it's been 3 years! What made you fall in love with our workout?

G: Before trying out Bouncefit, I only went for weekly jogs around my neighbourhood. As much as I enjoy jogging, it can get a little boring. Bouncefit classes are always super fun, it feels like I’m in a club with the awesome playlist and energy in the studio! Plus, I get to burn calories! Win-win! I like that Bouncefit does less harm to our knees and it burns more calories compared to a normal jogging session.

I don’t have a helper and I can’t just leave my house anytime for a jogging session. So when Kulture first rolled out the virtual classes, I was thrilled!

K: Congratulations on your little bundle of joy again! We know it's never easy especially for a first-time mom to manage your time (but you're doing a wonderful job!) How important is it for you to still find time to workout regularly?

G: I haven’t bounced for at least a year (since pregnancy was 9 months 😆+ crazy mom duties at least for the first 6 months). Every mom struggles to find time to exercise after having a baby. That was me too. I knew it was important for me to keep myself healthy so that I can be in the best form to take care of my kid.

I was also advised by my doctors to slowly get back to my pre-pregnancy life, something along the line of helping my hormones get back to normal as pregnancy really screws up the hormonal balance for us ladies. However, I don’t have a helper and I can’t just leave my house anytime for a jogging session. So when Kulture first rolled out the virtual classes, I was thrilled!

Still looking fab post-pregnancy!

K: That's great to know! What do you love most about having a trampoline at home and joining our virtual classes?

G: I love how I can do the workout at my own convenience! Most mommies will agree that babies can be temperamental. There are good days and bad days. So say if I planned to bounce today but baby decides to be cranky, I can ‘join’ the class again by watching the video after the live session. Also, I can watch my baby on the babycam while doing the workout. This means I can easily stop my workout session and run over to baby’s room to attend to her if she needs me. And in such cases (it did happen to me a few times), I can always redo that session again the next day. SO CONVENIENT! Oh, and I can pop into my shower immediately after the workout and can be a clean mummy to carry my baby after the workout. Love it!

I did get my hubby to try, he couldn’t even last through the second set! So it’s not that simple as it looks.

K: Finally, what is one common misconception about Bouncefit that you'd like to debunk?

G: I feel that some people think that bounce is not a workout. Jump jump jump only... can burn anything meh, compared to like F45/Insanity workouts.

It's never too late to start! If you're one of the busy moms like Gillian who has to juggle your baby, work and self-care, remember you don't have to sacrifice any! "Me" time is just as important as everything else! It's so essential to take care of yourself mentally and physically first in order for you to fuel the rest ;) If you'd like to join Gillian in attending Bouncefit classes conveniently from your home (and at your own time), follow this link to find out more! Rental/purchase options are available with unlimited access to live stream and recorded classes. #BounceBackStronger
